The University at Albany, my alma mater, sealed its second NCAA Tournament appearance about an hour ago after winning a 60-59 nailbiter over the University of Vermont (take that, Mike Sperber!).
The Danes, who almost knocked off #1 seeded UConn last year, are the first local team to make the D-1 NCAA Tournament two years in a row -- not even Siena has done that.
Hopefully, this win will put the program on the map... maybe they'll get a couple of blue chip recruits (or not!).
Congratulations, boys! Should be a wild night downtown tonight (though I'm probably staying in).
Ze Frank recently lost a bet to his loyal viewers, and has had to pay up. Anyone who doesn't follow the show much isn't going to understand the clip, but here it is anyway:
It's really a testament to vlogging -- is there any way that this would work in any other medium? Somehow, if it were done on TV or in the movies, I think I'd find it creepy, but it's simply genius here.
Next week is Ze's last week doing The Show -- or as he puts it, the conclusion of his "one year internship in the League of Awesomeness." He's been remarkably tight-lipped as to what he's up to next, but we should all wish him luck. He's from the Capital Region!
But "while male circumcision has extraordinary potential to prevent HIV infection, these new findings remind us that we must proceed with thought and care in developing strategies to expand male circumcision in Africa," said Dr. Kevin De Cock, director of WHO's AIDS department. "Circumcision is an additional prevention strategy rather than a replacement for anything else."
Well, sorta... Ben Folds is collecting user-generated videos for his cover of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit." I was just to post one of 'em, the best one, but this one was relevant tonight. I'll post the next one tomorrow.
There's some real conversation for your (plumber's) ass!
I haven't been traveling as much as I was a year ago, but Rob Bellinger (whom I knew several years ago), seems to be, and he's much more interesting than I could even hope to be.
Against all odds, I've officially lost an NBA bet to Ari. I took the under on 27 wins for the Knicks this season, and somehow, Isiah's boys might win more than 30 this season!
I'll win the next one. What should the next bet be?
